Cold Nights, Hot Bodies

I've just found a lovely reader review on Amazon for my latest release Cold Nights, Hot Bodies and it's started my day off beautifully :-)

I have read a good number of Lily Harlem books, but this might be my favorite. Sure, the cover is worth the price of admission alone (although I suppose there's nothing preventing you from staring at him on Amazon all day long). But I digress. Lily Harlem's characters are always fun and the sex is always white-hot, but I would say she amped things up in this one. I could totally identify with Ashley's reluctance to come out of her shell and how much she was rewarded when she finally did. Shane is super sexy, but has a heart of gold. I liked him from his first appearance on the page. The story pulled me in and didn't let go as it became apparent that their connection was not only instantaneous and physical, but deeper and quite emotional. Both characters risk their heart and I loved them for it. The ending is wholly satisfying. You won't be disappointed!

Special guest Justine Elyot is here today!!

I'm thrilled that Justine has dropped by, I adore her writing and I'm incredibly proud to say that we feature in several anthologies together including Sex in the City London, Ultimate Uniforms and Orgasmic.

Take it away Justine....

It's wonderful to be here at the web home of the terrific Lily Harlem. Is it hot in here or is it just me? Whew! Anyway, hello everybody.

I'm going to take a little bit of time today to discuss the differences between fantasy and reality. OK. I'm not going to patronise you. I know you all know the differences. But interestingly, fiction that deals with sexual fantasy is often criticised for not being sufficiently true-to-life, and I wanted to wonder aloud why that might be.

The protagonist of my erotic novel, Meeting Her Match, takes a few more risks than she sensibly should. The first time she meets up with a stranger from the internet, she takes a friend with her, but that's because she has a feeling something is a little 'off' from the outset. The next time, she attends a group event without telling anyone where she's gone – silly Cherry. In real life, it would almost go without saying that you make sure you have a back-up plan and a person who knows where you've gone and with whom.

But Cherry's life isn't real. I made it up and I know what's going to happen to her. I'm watching over her, making sure she doesn't get into any pickles too dense to climb out of. Her exploration of the hidden world of BDSM is also informed by fantasy. She embarks on her adventure with enthusiasm and wonder and, because she is a fictional character, things happen a little more quickly and seamlessly than they would do in reality.

I don't think it's part of erotica's remit to be grittily realistic (though some of the best writing in the genre absolutely is). How many erotica characters menstruate, for example, or get cramp or any of the other unglamorous hazards of intimacy? Part of the thrill of erotica is watching characters do things that we would never dare. The risk is integral to the reward.

On the other hand, it needs to be just realistic enough not to distract the reader with preposterous impossibilities. I think the trick of this is to make the emotional journey resonate with the reader, however far 'out there' the action travels. It's a good trick to have - I'm working on it!

Blurb for Meeting Her Match.

In the internet age, it should be easy for like-minded fetishists to find and connect with each other. Or so Cherry thought. Her decision to enter the wild and wonderful world of BDSM leads her to some interesting and unexpected places. She soon finds herself on 'the scene' and her insatiable curiosity takes her to orgies, slave auctions and mansion houses full of trainee submissives, but where will she find her perfect dom? Will Cherry ever meet her match?

Meeting Her Match is available in paperback and Kindle

Thief

Thief was my first full length novel at Total-E-Bound and is available in print and e-book. I adored writing this story, the plot twists and turns as much as the characters relationship does. Also the couple on the cover look just like Kat and John did in my mind as I was writing it.

Here is an excerpt from about a third of the way through the novel that shows how the two characters bounce off one another...

Kat refused to ride the bike in her skirt so they sat in stony silence in a cab. She sensed John looking at her as if he was about to say something but then kept stopping himself. In the end, he bent forward and said a few hushed words to the driver.

When they pulled up, they weren’t on Oxford Street as she’d instructed. They were parked in a decidedly seedy looking backstreet. “Hey, why are we here?” Kat demanded with a frown.

“I thought I’d show you my type of shopping.” John leant over her bare thighs and swung open her door. “After you.”

Kat muttered under her breath but curiosity got the better of her and she stepped out over the foul gutter onto the littered street. “There’s no shops around here.” She tutted as John unfolded out the cab next to her.

“Over here.” He wrapped an arm around her waist and urged her to the left. They passed a row of rancid wheelie bins, a boarded up house covered in graffiti and a deep doorway with a hunched figure cocooned in a ripped sleeping bag. They came to a stop by a steel armoured door. A chipped sign read ‘Over 18’s only’.

Kat glanced at the window next to it. It was blacked out with rough strokes of thick paint and protected by solid steel railings. “What sort of shop is this?”

“The sort of shop I think you might just like, Pussy Cat.” He winked.

It made her mad when he acted all superior, like he knew something she didn’t. It was exactly how teachers and social workers had always spoken to her. Like she was missing the point, not grasping life, when she actually did. She got it better than most. Keeping her head above water was the name of the game. She wasn’t interested in the rest—that was superfluous. “Well, if there’s no Prada, I can’t see how it will appeal,” she huffed, feeling her mood tighten.

“Oh, I think it will.” He tapped his finger on the end of her nose and pushed open the door. “You just don’t know it yet.”

A tinny bell sounded as he shooed her inside. The air was musty and stale, the lighting subdued and she had to lift her feet over curled orange lino.

“Mornin’.” A deep, male voice came directly from her left. She spun and was faced with an enormous middle-aged man. He sat by an ancient malt brown till balanced on a grainy security screen. Sweat droplets hung on his forehead, and his shirt was unbuttoned way down low, revealing flushed red skin splattered with moles and grey curls. His gaze loitered down Kat’s exposed legs, and he swept his fat tongue over his lips.

John nodded at him, a muscle flexed in his jaw, then he tightened the hold on her waist and steered her past shelves stuffed with intriguingly shaped items.

“Twenty percent off lesbian DVDs today,” the obese man called in a wheezing voice.

“Bear it in mind,” John said through gritted teeth, before parting a heavy bamboo curtain and pushing Kat through it.

In the next room, each of the four walls were crammed full of DVDs, all highlighted by spotlights. The spotlights made it far too warm, and Kat felt her cheeks flush. “What are we doing here?” she asked again, finally stopping her forward momentum now John had removed his hand from her lower back.

“I thought we could do with some light entertainment.” He flicked his gaze around. “There’s not much on TV we both want to watch.”

“What are you on about?” she snapped.

“Well, you clearly couldn’t stand the war film last night.”

Kat shook her head incredulously. “You brought me here because of that?”

“No.” He lowered his head to hers. “I brought you here because I want to get to know the real Kat, what really turns you on. You choose a DVD and so will I. It will be very revealing about our deepest, darkest desires.”

Kat swallowed. He was challenging her again, daring her to pick a subject. Something that would get her hot then he would nag away at it like a fingernail on an insect bite.

“You never know,” he went on. “We might choose the same fantasy and then we’ll know we were destined to be together.”

“Oh, shut up, will you? This is a business arrangement, as well you know.”

John shrugged.

“What’s that look for?” Kat demanded.

“Business partners don’t usually get quite as intimate as we have.”

“Have, that’s right, have in the past tense.”

He winked again, and before she could move away, he pressed a sharp kiss to her lips. “We’ll see. I’m going to have a look at the stuff in the front room. You start browsing.”

Kat slammed her hands to her hips and tutted. Why was he kissing her, and what the hell did he mean, ‘we’ll see’? She spun away from his retreating back; she didn’t want to look at his perfect, denim-encased rear.

Her gaze peeled over the titles in front of her. Lesbians lick Lilly, Cunts that Beg, and The Sailor’s Sperm Wails were just a few. She reached out and touched the frozen face of a woman on the cover of a yellow box. She had a similar look to Kat. Long black hair, generous breasts with dark nipples and green almond-shaped eyes topped with neatly arched brows. Kat moved closer.

The woman was bent on all fours, and the torso of a dark-skinned man could be made out behind her. He was clutching her hips with curled fingers and was also on his knees. Whatever he was doing had her mouth wide open in a scream of ecstasy crossed with something that looked scarily like agony. Her eyes were wide but glazed, her tongue flat on the base of her mouth, a droplet of sweat perched in the hollow of her neck.

Kat felt a rush of warmth to her pussy. Just looking at the woman’s face reminded her of how it had felt when John had fucked her wildly in the shower, when he had shoved his cock up inside her and his fingers into her back side. She beat down a delicious tremble of desire as she read the title of the DVD—Anal Virgin Takes It All

That was her. She was an anal virgin. Did fingers count? No, she didn’t think so. Suddenly, she wanted that DVD. Not to show John what she’d chosen, but she wanted it for herself, to watch, to see what it would be like—the big taboo of sex.

She moved to the bamboo curtain and peered through a gap created by a missing string. John stood at the till, talking to the cashier. She glanced up at the security camera in the corner. It was facing her, but she reckoned it was worth the risk. The sales guy seemed pretty distracted. She walked back over to the DVD and, with lightning speed, dropped it in her bag. Just as John parted the curtain, she stuck out her hand and reached for another DVD.

“Found anything?” he asked lightly.

“No, but clearly you did.” She nodded at the bulging brown bag in his hand.

“Yeah, just a few essentials.” A half smile tipped his lips. “What’s that you’ve got?” He loomed next to her and twisted the DVD she gripped in her hand. “Seven Days and Seven Nights—Bound and Gagged.” His mouth broke into a full wattage grin. “Well, if I’d known that was what you wanted, Pussy Cat, I would’ve been more than happy to oblige.” He pushed his finger to his temple as if in deep thought. “In fact, I think I did suggest it.”

“You’re all talk and no action, John, so just shut up, will you?” Kat couldn’t believe the apt title of the DVD she’d grabbed in haste.

“I think we both know that’s not true.” His eyes glistened, and his voice deepened an octave. “You know full well I can provide the action, you've just got to say the word, baby.”

Kat slammed the DVD back on the shelf with a clatter. “Let’s just get to Oxford Street. That fat sweaty guy gives me the creeps.”

Thief has had some great reviews, but I would love to hear readers thoughts so feel free to drop me a line.

Sunday Snog - SHARED

Welcome to Sunday Snog. Here is an excerpt from my debut novel at Ellora's Cave released Summer 2010 - so much has happened since then!

“So I wait all day,” I said with a smile. “And you both appear at the same time.” I looked up from my painting of the bay, which was more or less complete.

“Yeah, like buses,” Liam said, striding across the living room and lifting me to my feet. “Two come along at once.” He bent his head and kissed me soft and gentle.

My knees weakened and I leaned into his granite body, wrapped my arms around his shoulders and molded to him as he held me up.

“I think in this house it’s more like three come at once,” Quinn said in his most drawling, sexy voice. He tossed his jacket over the back of the sofa and walked over to Liam and me.

Liam pulled his mouth from mine and I felt Quinn cup my cheek. “Hey,” he said. His black eyes flashed and a muscle flexed in his cheek. “You had a good day?”

I nodded and reached for a kiss. As Liam held me tight, Quinn delved deep into my mouth. Our tongues began a wild dance and I slipped one hand from Liam to wind around Quinn’s waist. His kiss was tighter, harder, there was something wilder about it than Liam’s but I adored both sensations and being able to swap from one to the other was idyllic.

“I’ve missed you this afternoon,” Liam said, brushing my hair aside and stooping to kiss my neck. “Been thinking of your body,” he said onto my skin. “Been remembering that adorable little shout you do just before you come, it makes me hard, so hard.”

I splayed my fingers and pressed against the back of his neck, urging on his kissing and his talking. His words were like syrup running into my veins and pooling sweetly between my legs. How these guys could get me so turned-on so quickly was amazing. I guessed it was one of the benefits of having two lovers.

“I want to hear it again,” Liam said into my ear. “I want to hear it shouted out, loud and wild...” he paused, “around my cock.”

A whimper of desire escaped my lips, which Quinn caught in his mouth. Liam pressed his body closer and his erection shoved against my stomach. He was right, he was hard from thinking about my little shout of ecstasy. Really hard.

Quinn snaked a hand up my top, delved inside my bra and tweaked my nipple. “Do you want that, Ariane?” he asked in a gravelly voice, palming the underside of my breast. His breath was heated and coming faster by the second. “Do you want to suck Liam’s cock while I make you come? Would that thrill you, would it make you feel adored and cherished?”

Did I want it? Hell yes!

I nodded and pulled both men closer still. “Yes,” I said, catching in a breath as Quinn pulled my other nipple to the point of pain. “Yes, please.” I could barely fathom what I was agreeing to, how the logistics would work, but it sounded like enormous fun for all of us, and it had been a long, quiet afternoon alone with my thoughts.

“Then strip,” Quinn said, pulling back with a decidedly predatory look in his eye. “Quick.”

Blurb for Shared

Struggling artist Ariane Arlington flees the Welsh valleys after exposing her corrupt boss. But when the sun rises she finds herself jobless and homeless in Cardiff city with barely a penny to her name.

She responds to an advert in the local paper—Room to let, wanted, girl to share. What she doesn’t realize is that the two insanely gorgeous guys who live in the penthouse apartment really do want a girl to share, in every sense of the word. Fortunately for Ariane, rent is the last thing on their minds.

She discovers the men are bound together by a turbulent past. Liam, a computer whiz, keeps a painful secret hidden beneath his buff exterior, whilst Quinn, a pioneering neurosurgeon, wonders if he’ll ever meet a woman who can live with his controlling ways. They admit the one thing missing from their lives is a woman just like Ariane, who can handle them both in and out of the bedroom and who, together, they can keep satisfied, loved and most of all, safe.

Have a wonderful Sunday.

Review for Harita

What a lovely way to start the day. A great review at Erotica For All for my spicy Mumbai tale The Unwholesome Adventures of Harita.

Here is what the reviewer said -

Lily Harlem’s contribution to Total-E-Bound’s Bollywood series is excellent. It tells the story of Kamini Singh, a young Indian woman with a secret – she writes erotic fiction. Her weekly column in Ichchha Magazine, The Unwholesome Adventures of Harita has been a wonderful release during the time she has spent waiting for her parents to find her a suitable husband. The money has been much appreciated, too.
When Kamini’s parents propose a marriage to the delectable Damon, she’s delighted, and can barely wait for their wedding, and the night that follows it. Her online research for Harita has her head swimming with lots of ideas and she can barely wait to try them all out.
Kamini’s wedding night is everything she’d hoped for – and more. Her life with Damon, both in and out of the bedroom is perfect, and she’s ecstatic. But when Kamini uncovers a surprise about her husband, she decides to turn it to her advantage and send hers and Damon’s sex life to dizzying new heights.
The Unwholesome Adventures of Harita is another fab tale from Lily Harlem. I thought the premise was brilliant. It’s very cleverly spun out, throwing in surprises here and there, not to mention some incredibly kinky interludes. Well-written, very sexy and funny in places, this is one unique novella you should definitely add to your eReader.

Have a great day.

New Contract

I am thrilled to have just signed a contract with Ellora's Cave for my novella DESSERT. This is my first contribution to the Ellora's Cave for Men line that's just launched. I am very excited to be involved in this project and I hope the guys love these stories as bed time reads!!!

No cover to show you yet but these pictures will give you a hint of what to expect.

This is nyotaimori, the ancient Japanese tradition of eating sushi from a naked lady. This was my inspiration for the book - and you only have to have a little imagination to guess what Dessert is going to be!!

Sunday Snog - Berets and Bras

Hello everyone who has joined me for Sunday Snog. Here is a lip smacking excerpt from Berets and Bras.

Blurb

Blood, sweat and hard work has given me everything I want, except that is, the dangerous mercenary I'm in love and lust with. Until, one night, when my secrets are exposed, I discover, in the sweetest possible way that he's sinfully talented at handling more than just his armed weapon.

A shocked expression captures his face, and his jaw hangs slack.
"Leave me alone. You've no fucking right," I start, but my words are cut short as his big body drops, our helmets knock, and he slams his lips onto my mouth. Like a marauder intent on submission, he plunges his tongue between my teeth and moans deep in his throat.
I taste him, catch his guttural groan, and grabble for his wide, armoured shoulders. He knows. Tom knows. After all the subterfuge, someone else in my team is in on my secret. Panic, relief, and desire flood my system.
As quickly as his body had covered mine, he pulls away. His eyes flash as they bore down into mine.
"Tom," I whisper.
"Not a damn word," he says through gritted teeth.
"But…"
Roughly he presses his index finger over my lips. "Later. Mid-mission is not the time."

Susie White and the Right Hand Man by Lucy Felthouse

A wedding, an evil plan, a love story and a sacrifice are the order of the day in this modern retelling of Snow White and the Huntsman.

Blurb

Susie White and her stepmother-to-be have never seen eye to eye, despite all of Susie’s best efforts to be friendly. Eager not to spoil her father’s happiness, Susie still agrees to be bridesmaid at their wedding. When the big day comes, she meets Louise’s right hand man, Scott. Susie had never believed in love at first sight until that moment. The pair hit it off, sharing a mutual dislike of Louise and her wicked ways. Their camaraderie quickly develops into something more, and they date in secret until it’s time for Susie to leave for University – and freedom. Unfortunately, Scott has an earth-shattering revelation, which means the two of them of them must work together to unravel Louise’s evil plan, before it’s too late.

Excerpt

I should have known my stepmother was up to something when she offered to help me move all my stuff to my University digs. It wasn’t like her to be civil, much less helpful, but I figured that she was happy I was moving hundreds of miles away, and therefore would do anything to make sure it happened as quickly as possible. As my father’s only child, I’m the sole heir to White’s Bites, a massively profitable confectionary company based in Wiltshire, England. My stepmother had made no secret of the fact she resented that she wouldn’t get a stake in the business, should anything happen to my father. Of course, the reason for this was that my father knew the first thing the witch would do was put the business on the market to get her greedy little hands on the cash. I, on the other hand, loved White’s Bites and would continue to run it to the best of my ability. We’d never seen eye to eye, my stepmother and I. However, it wasn’t the usual ‘child resents someone trying to replace their parent’ syndrome, it was her that resented me. My mom had died of cancer when I was fifteen. My father and I were devastated, as you’d expect, but I’d always urged him to get on with his life. After all, it’s what mom would have wanted, and I certainly didn’t want my dad to be lonely when I got married and left home. So, a couple of years later, when dad met Louise and they started dating, I was thrilled. He was happy, therefore so was I. Soon it became more serious and dad wanted me to meet her. I was excited, but nervous. When the time came and Louise had walked into our house, I’d been in awe. Don’t get me wrong, my mom had been beautiful, but in a natural way, as if she didn’t realise, or care. But Louise clearly did. Her gorgeous hair was perfectly quaffed, and her attractive features were enhanced by expertly applied makeup. Her outfit looked like something from a fashion magazine. I managed to pull myself together before she saw me standing there, all slack-jawed and stupid-looking. Walking towards her, I’d held out a hand. “Louise!” I’d said, beaming, “I’m so pleased to finally meet you. Dad’s told me so much about you.” She’d smiled thinly and without any real emotion. “Charmed, I’m sure, Susan.” She’d shaken my hand gingerly, as though she was afraid she’d catch something. I’d half expected her to wipe her hand on her clothes afterwards. “Oh please, call me Susie.” I’d said, ignoring her odd behaviour. I’d been eager to get on with the woman, knowing it would please my father. “Everyone does.” Another tight-lipped smile. I’d tried hard to make conversation with her and make her feel comfortable in our home. But I never felt like I was succeeding. At first, I put it down to her being nervous or shy, but as weeks and months passed, I still never felt as though Louise warmed to me. I never bothered my father with my concerns. After all, as long as she liked him, what did it matter? While Louise and my father were just dating, things weren’t too bad. They went to restaurants, the theatre, the cinema, and so on. I didn’t see her very often, and therefore didn’t have to put up with her frosty behaviour towards me. Naturally, everything changed when dad told me he was going to ask Louise to marry him. He’d sat me down to break the news – fortunately – and I’d done my best to act delighted. Luckily, dad hadn’t noticed anything was amiss, and as he’d chatted about ceremonies, honeymoons and Louise moving in, a cold shiver had run up my back. This could not end well.
